Alan Sainte James Boudrot

 

While managing several self-taught artists at Barristers Gallery, New Orleans artist Ste. James Boudrot decided to try his hand at transposing his collection of New Orleans obituaries onto the lids of wooden packing crates. What he created was his own unique form of "folk art." Though Ste. James is no longer an art dealer, choosing instead to focus on creating art, he is incredibly knowledgeable in the subject of folk art. He was instrumental in introducing the likes of Reggie Mitchell, Lamar Sorrento and Herbert Singleton into House of Blues venues across the country. He also contributes to various folk art books and periodicals, the most recent being Kathy Moses' book Outsider Art.
